Welcome
to the site for the Ecuries de la Vallée des Rois.
We are situated in the heart of a bountiful region thanks to its
temperate climate and cultural history, a region known as the
"Garden of France" and listed on the World Heritage
by the UNESCO.
We invite you to discover our various equestrian activities :
- Guided
tours
- French
Riding School
Every summer,
from May to October, we organise riding holidays with set dates
of one weeks duration which take you round the heart of
the Chateaux of the Loire. You will find further details below
and in other leaflets available from Les Ecuries de la Vallee
des Rois.
If however
you are interested in taking a riding holiday on another date,
we can arrange a route specially for you in groups of at least
eight riders.
In addition,
depending on availability, we can arrange a days ride or
a weeked ride all year round.
Each summer
we also organise riding
holidays for teenagers (ask us for a documentation and
a registration form).
Having landed
at Paris-Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport, you can catch the
TGV train directly from the airport station at 1.45pm, arriving
at Saint Pierre des Corps (near Tours) at 3.20pm ; we will
be there to greet you and to transfer you to the
equestrian centre.
After a welcoming
drink, the cloakroom facilities of the club house will be available
to you so that you may change your clothing. We recommend that
you bring comfortable riding wear (breeches/jodhpurs, boots, gloves,
raincoat and riding hat).
We will then
choose a suitable horse together, which you will then be riding
during the holiday. The choice of horse will depend upon your
riding ability, height and weight, and personal choice of a wide
variety of high quality horses. These horses are trained daily
at our equestrian centre so that your riding holiday will be both
safe and convivial.
We will supply
you with comfortable, long distance saddles with saddle bags attached,
and riding hats will be available to you if you require them.
In order for you to get to know your horse, we will set off on
a 2 hours ride to the nearby Chateau de Nitray, where you can
visit the old tower, the park, the wine cellars, and sample the
different wines from the Touraine region.
On your return
from this ride, we will serve you a home cooked dinner in the
club house. At the end of the evening, you will be driven to a
nearby bed and breakfast hotel.

The riding
holiday circuit runs from Sunday morning to the following Friday
evening, with an average of between 4 and 6 hours per day in the
saddle. You will be accompanied by a state registered, bilingual
equestrian tourism guide.
The riding group will not exceed 12 people who are comfortable
with all three paces, particularly in rising trot and balanced
canter, so that the ambiance is the most convivial and most closely
reaches your needs.
We arrange
a daily visit to a chateau with commentary in english by your
equestrian guide, and, if the itinerary permits, visits to a museum
or to a wine cellar.
We always
use well maintained bridleways and paths, which are suitable for
cantering and which will lead us across very varied countryside:
peaceful stretches along the Cher river, sandy shores along the
Loire river, green and lush forests, verdant valleys and vineyards.

Lunch is home
cooked and prepared by our own staff and served on a picnic table
outdoors (there is always shelter available in case of rain).
Dinner and breakfast will be provided either in guest house or
at a restaurant.
We will introduce
you to the local culinary specialities - quiches and traditional
tarts, gourmet salads, a variety of cold meats, locally produced
cheeses - and you will be able to appreciate the renowned local
wines, whether white, red or rose, which come from the local vineyards
of Chenin, Gamay and Cabernet.
Overnight
accommodation will be in bed and breakfast or hotels (private
bathroom and lavatories).
You will dine and sleep every night in a different location.
Our own transport will ensure that all your personal belongings
are delivered there each night.
We would ask you to use a rucksack, or soft travelling bag, rather
than a suitcase.
